Voter turnout in Iloilo City at least 60%
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Iloilo City said the number of voters who went to the polling precincts on Monday was around 60 to 70 percent only.
Assistant Election Officer Jonathan Sayno said this was lower compared to the May 10 synchronized national and local polls. The previous election had a voting turnout of around 80 percent in most barangays.
Sayno said that some registered voters may have opted not to cast their ballots for various reasons. Still COMELEC was happy that the election process ran smoothly.
Sayno said that all the clustered polling precincts functioned properly for the barangay and SK polls. Iloilo City has around 814 clustered polling precincts.
He also said that voting process was easier this time because of the manual voting system.
Iloilo City has 180 barangays in its seven districts. The city has more than 250,000 registered voters.*PNA
